squatchy strides forward
At Sassquad Trail Running, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom that come with being on the trails. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or someone taking their first step onto the dirt, we’re all about creating a welcoming space for you to explore, have fun, and connect with others. We are committed to fostering a community where runners and hikers of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities are welcomed, supported, and empowered. You belong here.
JACKALOPE TENT
Introducing the Jackalope tent! A sanctuary to take a break from the loud music and crowds of a trail party - it is also available to those who may need to breastfeed, pump or even the littlest squatches in need of a place to decompress. Why Jackalopes? They are peaceful cryptids and are also excellent singers (usually tenor). The Jackalope Tent is available at the following Trail Parties: Squatchapple (March), Wild Goose Trail Festival (September) and the Squatchy Leftovers (November).
team hippogriffin
At Sassquad Trail Running, we believe the trails are for everyone. That’s why we’re launching Team HippoGriffin—a new program designed to support runners and hikers with a physical, intellectual, and/or neurodevelopmental disability who need a guide to explore the trails safely and confidently. For 2025, Team Hippogriffin will meet up for two training sessions and then race together at the Squatchy Leftovers in November. To apply to be an athlete or a guide, click here to learn more!
Sassquad en Español
Whether it’s race instructions, event details, or general communication, we’re committed to ensuring that Spanish-speaking runners have the same opportunity to connect and enjoy the trail running experience. We believe that by breaking down language barriers, we’re making the trail running community more welcoming and accessible to all. Click here to request translations!
DELAYED STARTs
Everyone’s journey is different and at Sassquad, we want all participants to feel comfortable and supported from the moment they arrive. For runners and hikers who may need a little extra space—whether due to mental health or physical conditions—we offer delayed starts. This allows individuals to start their race later, avoiding the crowds at check-in and the starting line. You can request a delayed start when you are registering on UltraSignUp for any of our events and once you make the request, our Accessibility Coordinator will contact you.
Trailside support
The Trailside Support program is here to make sure every runner and hiker has a great experience at our events. You can submit requests for accommodations ahead of time, and we’ll do our best to support your needs on race day. Our goal is to make sure everyone, regardless of ability or circumstance, feels comfortable, included, and ready to enjoy the trails to the fullest. Please submit your requests HERE and our Accessibility Coordinator will reach out to you directly!
Discretion and Inclusion
We understand that some runners prefer to keep their race participation private. At Sassquad Trail Running, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that everyone feels comfortable signing up for our events. If you have concerns about your name being publicly displayed on the UltraSignUp race roster, we’ve worked with our friends at UltraSignUp to create a workaround that allows you to participate without your name appearing on the public list. If you’d like to take advantage of this option, please check out this informative PDF from UltraSignup. Our goal is to create an inclusive and welcoming space where all runners feel safe and respected—both on and off the trails.
